Alumni Weekend 2009

This will be during RPI's Homecoming & Reunion Weekend.

The following events are scheduled but be sure to check back here for any time or venue changes. Also, please sign up for our email list if you have not already so we can send you any changes.

There will be plenty of other class specific, Greek, and other events during the weekend but feel free to attend one or more of our events based on your interest.

Event:Alumni Hockey
Date: Saturday, October 3rd
Time: 8 am - 9:50 am
Place: Knickerbocker Ice Arena, 103 8th Avenue, Troy, NY
RSVP: Players please RSVP to don@sigepnyd.com. We need goalies and a ref
Cost: Free.
Attire: Regulation hockey gear for players; casual for spectators.
Note: We were unable to get a better time or venue. RPI has 3 varsity hockey games between Friday & Saturday already.

Event: Second Annual Scholarship Luncheon
Date: Saturday, October 3rd
Time: Noon - 2 pm
Place: Bruggeman Conference Center (ground floor), RPI Biotechnology & Interdisciplinary Studies Building, Troy, NY
Cost: $25 suggested minimum donation for Scholarship Fund
Attire: Semi-formal (jacket & tie)
Notes: Scholarships will be awarded to the best outstanding undergraduate brother and to an incoming freshman who applied for our balanced man scholarship

Event: Alumni & Volunteer Corporation Meeting
Date: Saturday, October 3rd
Time: 2 pm - 3 pm
Place: Bruggeman Conference Center (ground floor), RPI Biotechnology & Interdisciplinary Studies Building, Troy, NY
Cost: Free
Attire: Come as you are
Notes: All alumni welcome. Coffee, refreshments, and light snack will be provided

Event: Alumni Reception
Date: Saturday, October 3rd
Time: 5 pm - 7 pm
Place: Mother's, Rensselaer Union (ground floor), Troy, NY
Cost: $25 suggested donation to defray event costs
Attire: Come as you are
Notes: Heavy hors d'oeuvres (light supper) and non-alcoholic refreshments provided

Event: Alumni Band Party
Date: Saturday, October 3rd
Time: 7 pm - 11 pm
Place: Mother's, Rensselaer Union (ground floor), Troy, NY
Cost: $25 suggested donation (covers both reception and band party)
Attire: Come as you are
Notes: Cash bar

There is also a Greek ChowderFest on Friday, October 2nd from 6 - 8:30 pm at the RSE House for those interested. The event is free and all Greek alumni and actives are welcome. This year will feature a competition between houses for several different categories of chowder.

Cash and checks for donations will be accepted at the events as noted. We also plan to use RPI's on line registration system for Homecoming and Reunion. If you are already on RPI's mailing list you should receive a mailer listing all events plus ours along with an email in late August.

We also plan to provide directions and other information with RPI's welcome packet for attendees.

We now have a New York Delta group on LinkedIn (www.LinkedIn.com). The group name is Sigma Phi Epsilon: New York Delta. For those of you already on LinkedIn, you can simply request to be joined and we will add you after we verify you are a brother.

This also has a section where you can advertise jobs wanted or needed to just those in our group.

Alumni Work Weekend

The annual alumni work party will be on August 29th and 30th.

The focus will be on the bathroom floors. The tiles are in good shape but regrouting is needed. The overall focus is to improve the appearance of the house.

The expected task list includes:

- Regrout floor tiles
- Replace broken bathroom fans and install new fan
- Replace broken light fixtures and wiring
- Repair broken windows and other exterior holes
- Other general maintenance

The actives will assist in prep work. Alumni are also asked to bring tools such as dremels (to remove grout) and shop vacs.

We are seeking approximately 10 - 20 alumni volunteers to donate their time and skills. Please let them know if you have any experience for any of the above projects and/or can bring tools that would help.
